Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Bits of the Beach took place in May 2018 and ranks as one of the most exciting days we've had at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, that's because we were the first ever public riders on ICON!

Originally, we had no plans to include ICON on this event but less than two weeks before the event was due to begin, it was announced that ICON would open for "boarding pass holders" starting from the same date as our event. It took a lot of emailing and phone calling to get something worked out, but in the end we were able to arrange with the Pleasure Beach's marketing and events team that our group would be the first ever public riders on ICON. It was a memorable moment seeing so many Pleasure Beach Experience t-shirts on show as ICON took its first 100 riders. 

 

Our boarding pass rides on ICON were followed up with an hour on the Big One, this was great because it was the first opportunity any of us had to experience the interactions between riders on the Big One and ICON. The day finished with a 30 minute Exclusive Ride Time session on Valhalla. 

 

On the following day, we had a behind the scenes tour of the Derby Racer and Nickelodeon Streak ERT before the Pleasure Beach opened to the public, and then when the park did open some of us couldn't resist paying for another boarding pass ride on ICON. 

A truly fantastic event weekend.
